A third instalment of `The Ring` is to be made
Paramount is planning on making a 3-D version of the horror movie, which is being titled `Ring 3-D`.
David Loucka is being touted as the scriptwriter, with Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald negotiating a return as producers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The 2002 movie was a remake of the 1998 Japanese movie of the same name, and starred Australian actress Naomi Watts as a young journalist investigating the death of people one week after they come into contact with a mysterious video tape.
No cast or director has been confirmed for the movie - which is believed to feature a more teen-friendly storyline, reinventing the film for a younger audience.
Upon its release in 2002 `The Ring` grossed $249 million worldwide and sparked a flurry of interest in horror movies from Japan - leading to the English production of `The Grudge` with Sarah Michelle Gellar and `Dark Water` starring Jennifer Connelly.
`Ring 3-D` currently has no production or expected release date.
